SHANGHAI, January 14, 2026 – The 26th UBS Greater China Conference (GCC) officially opened today in Shanghai. Under the theme "New frontiers: Growth in a transforming world," the conference featured a high-profile forum titled "China's Low-Altitude Economy: The New Blue Ocean." Zhang Yu, Chairman of TopXGun (Nanjing) Robotics Co., Ltd., was invited to join industry leaders and innovators to discuss the strategic development of this emerging sector.
The forum highlighted that China's low-altitude economy is rapidly transitioning from a policy vision to large-scale commercial deployment, with private enterprises serving as the primary engines of growth. Supported by UBS Global Research, the session brought together core innovators and executives from leading private firms to share firsthand insights on commercial applications, technological maturity, regulatory roadmaps, and the acceleration of this dynamic industry.
Moderated by Chen Xin, Head of China Leisure and Transport Research at UBS Securities, with opening remarks by Eric LIN, Head of APAC Research at UBS, the panel included executives from Volant Aerotech, AeroLink, and TopXGun. Together, they mapped out a future for China's low-altitude economy that integrates innovation with regulation to achieve industrial scaling.
Addressing how the drone industry can leverage policy opportunities and sustain growth momentum, Zhang Yu drew on TopXGun's extensive field experience, citing the successful commercialization of agricultural drones as a vital blueprint. He detailed the key factors that enabled the rapid market entry of agricultural solutions and analyzed the sector's current scale and untapped potential. Zhang further noted that the technology and operational expertise gained in agriculture are now paving the way for expansion into diverse industries, signaling a vast "blue ocean" for the low-altitude economy.

The success of this forum provides a high-level platform for dialogue between policymakers, innovators, and market participants. Driven by both technological and institutional innovation, China's low-altitude economy is steadily moving from pilot exploration toward a new chapter of comprehensive expansion.
